A Parent’s Prayer to have an Unbelieving Child
I have become a serious fan of Kathleen Nielson’s new group of prayer books designed for parents. Through 4 short volumes the girl provides prayers pertaining to parents of young kids, of teens, associated with young adults, and of mature children. This prayer is from the volume dedicated to prayers designed for young adults and requests the Lord to save an unbelieving child.
Break your lighting upon my child’s heart, O Master who only mentioned, “Let there end up being light, ” plus there was light. You sent your light into this world, a mild that shines within darkness and is not ever overcome.
O shine the light of Jesus in his heart, merciful Father, from your Spirit, that the child may think.
Thank you, sovereign God, that you keep my beloved kid in your hand. You always have, and all my efforts—sometimes feeble or silly, sometimes wise—you know, you use, according to your own plan. I know you are sovereign and that you happen to be good, and so I still my yearning spirit before your tub.
In you is life, fully revealed and given in your Son exactly who died for sinners who deserve that death, who increased that sinners that believe might live. Enlarge my coronary heart, I pray, in order to yearn for many sinners to believe and reside.
But now I stop to pray again, and I will certainly pray again, O Lord of lifetime: please shine the sunshine of Jesus in the heart, that my child may believe.
