Savior, Lead Me

I have been reading through some of the works of Charles Ebert Orr who wrote within the late 1800s and early 1900s. Besides books he also penned a small number of poetry and hymns plus, among them, I the majority of appreciated one entitled “ Savior, Business lead Me. ” This is a simple profession of confidence in God’ s goodness plus sovereignty and a basic consecration to his purposes. I think you’ ll enjoy it too.

I do not pray that life end up being spent

On flow’ry beds of ease;

We only pray that Christ may manual

Across the raining seas.

I do not pray that flow’rs might bloom

Together my pilgrim way;

I only ask that Christ may guide

My footsteps lest I stray.

If Thou wilt lead me by the hand,

And guide my trembling feet,

For Thee, U Christ, I’ll gladly drink

The bitter with the lovely.

What though my life become peace or pain,

’Twill just soon be o’er;

I want to walk the way that leads

To heav’n’s eternal shore.

(You may notice the line “ flow’ ry mattresses of ease” continues to be drawn from Isaac Watt’ s “ Am I The Soldier of the Mix. ” )
