The ability of Silence, Solitude as well as the Art of Doing Nothing

Over the past few years, one routine has helped me gain a good deal of self-awareness that I never ever had before.

It’s absolutely nothing fancy; in fact , it’s quite ordinary. It’s simply taking a few minutes to do nothing with isolation and silence for corporation.

It was something I initial began doing while I had been in college. And as I actually slowly started to make performing nothing a habit, I was surprised to find that it might make me feel very content with peace.

Initially, when I considered my habit, I felt weird because nobody experienced ever told me they appreciated spending time in silence and solitude.

Moreover, in our society, it is so normal to encompass ourselves with people or constantly keep ourselves busy simply by jumping from one task to a different. Seeking out silence and solitude doesn’t seem like a thing many people would willingly choose to perform with their time.

I do really love being around people. But , now and then, I need a while to myself as I find it hard to think clearly and feel based when I am in extremely stimulating environments with lots of noise and things going on.

I believe that everybody can benefit from spending time each day in silence and isolation doing nothing. I suggest you put aside your electronic devices and have simply no agenda or any tasks to do. Also, don’ t really feel obligated to contemplate everything in particular, although you may find this can naturally happen as your thoughts starts to wander.

What I like to do this is to spend some time daily on the balcony of our apartment floor where there is usually a cool breeze along with a decent view, to stroll, look outside and allow my mind wander. Some days I also like to spend regarding 10-15 minutes with personally before going to bed to just be with myself alone.

Now, apart from it being very peaceful and relaxing, what I love most about this is the fact that the thoughts that will appear in my mind when i do this can be very insightful. Which happens when I’m not even seeking to think about anything in particular. Alone and solitude, when you have no an agenda, you can think along with so much more clarity.

Just like the method we connect with others is usually through conversations and non-verbal communication, the way we connect to ourselves is through silence and solitude. For it is in the silence and solitude that you can listen intently to your thoughts and feel the nudges of your heart.

Knowing to become alone by yourself and savoring your own company is very important, however it’s seldom emphasized to us growing up.

As you make this into a habit you will naturally become more aware of what really matters to you and what’s worth spending your time on.

It’s also important to note that our brains didn’t evolve to function optimally in our highly stimulating modern environment eating seemingly endless bits of details. And as with any device, we need to respect and recognize its limits.

It can power you to be honest with yourself and face your fears. While that may be unpleasant, running away from them or even avoiding and suppressing all of them is never a good solution in the long term.

By spending time doing nothing, we also give our brain some much-needed time for you to rest and relax, considering that our idea of taking breaks usually involves doing something or the other.

If you are someone who feels life is speeding by too fast, there’s nothing that can compare with taking the time to do nothing each day to slow down the speed of your life. Even as little as 5 minutes daily can be helpful.
